Meeting outside Russia
Meeting outside Russia: Istanbul, Belgrade, Yerevan or Dubai
No visa for her, no Russian visa for you
For many men, the trip to Moscow is the sticking point: a visa to apply for, no more direct flights from Western Europe or North America, and bank cards that don’t work once you land. None of this has to stop you from meeting her. Your first conversations happen by video call, with an interpreter, and the first trip can take place in a country she can enter without a visa: Turkey, Serbia, Armenia or the United Arab Emirates. This page explains what the agency organizes in that case, and what you pay for.
Why meet outside Russia
Three practical hurdles come up when a man considers the trip to Russia.
- The visa. With a British, American or Canadian passport, you need a consular visa backed by an invitation: in the UK, fingerprints at the visa center in London, Manchester or Edinburgh and 5 to 20 working days; in the US, a visa center appointment and about 10 days; in Canada, an appointment in Ottawa, Toronto or Montreal and 4 to 20 business days. French, Belgian, Swiss, Luxembourg and Monaco passports can use the Russian e-visa, applied for online at least 4 days before entry, for a stay of up to 30 days; fees shown at payment.
- The journey. There are no direct flights to Moscow from Western Europe or North America: allow at least one connection, most often in Istanbul.
- Money. No Visa or Mastercard card works in Russia. You pay in cash, which you bring with you.
All of this can be handled, and some of our clients do make the trip: the agency then organizes your stay on site, with an interpreter as an option, and gives you its practical guide to Russia before you leave (see our practical guide to traveling to Russia to meet a woman). If those hurdles hold you back, there is another way: a first trip to a country she enters without a visa, and where you need no Russian visa.
Istanbul, Belgrade, Yerevan or Dubai: which city to choose
A Russian woman can enter Turkey, Serbia, Armenia and the United Arab Emirates without a visa. We checked these rules on October 25, 2026 with each country’s official sources, and we check them again before every booking: they can change.
| City | Country | For her | For you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Istanbul | Turkey | No visa, up to 60 days | No visa for up to 90 days with a valid passport (British, American, Canadian, French, Belgian, Swiss, Luxembourg and Monaco passports) |
| Belgrade | Serbia | No visa, up to 30 days | Depends on your passport; we check it with you before booking |
| Yerevan | Armenia | No visa, up to 180 days a year | Depends on your passport; we check it with you before booking |
| Dubai | United Arab Emirates | No visa, 90 days in any 180 | Depends on your passport; we check it with you before booking |
Istanbul is the simplest case. There are direct flights from London, New York, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, as from Paris, Brussels, Geneva and Zurich; neither of you needs a visa; bank cards are accepted almost everywhere; and she can fly in from Russia on a direct flight.
We choose among the four cities with you, based on where you fly from, where she flies from, and the time of year.
What the agency arranges
Nothing is decided on a single round trip. The trip is prepared in three stages.
Video calls first, with an interpreter
Your first meetings take place by video call, with an agency interpreter, and they are included in the membership. The questions that matter come up early: children, which country to live in. If the interest is mutual, you receive her number and the relationship carries on between the two of you.
Choosing the city
The first trip is planned once you both know why you are traveling. We choose the city with you and check the entry rules for your passport before booking anything.
Her ticket, your hotel, the interpreter
We book her return ticket and suggest a selection of suitable hotels. An interpreter on site is available as an option, agreed before departure, just as for a trip to Russia.
Who pays for what: ticket, hotel, interpreter
Organizing the meeting trip is part of the membership: the agency organizes it and charges nothing extra. The travel costs themselves are yours, just as they would be for a stay in Moscow.
| What the agency does | What you pay for | |
|---|---|---|
| Her trip | We book her return ticket. | The ticket. |
| The hotel | We suggest a selection of suitable hotels. | Accommodation. |
| The interpreter | Optional, agreed before departure, just as for a trip to Russia. | The option, if you take it. |
| On site | In Istanbul, we give you our selection of hotels and places. | Your outings. |
She has nothing to pay upfront: the agency books her ticket, she travels on her side and meets you there.
Schengen visa or third country: how they compare
Bringing her to France or another Schengen country means a Schengen visa for her. Here is how the three options compare.
| Moscow | Schengen area (a visa for her) | Istanbul | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your visa | British, American or Canadian passport: consular visa with an invitation. French, Belgian, Swiss, Luxembourg or Monaco passport: e-visa, at least 4 days before entry; fees shown at payment | None if you live there | No visa, up to 90 days |
| Her visa | None | Short-stay visa (type C), €90 consular fee | No visa, up to 60 days |
| Lead time | Depends on your visa | Decision within 15 calendar days, up to 45 if a closer examination is needed | No visa procedure |
| Her risk of refusal | None: she stays at home | Possible, with an appeal procedure set by each country | None: no visa to obtain |
| Paying on site | Cash only: no Visa or Mastercard card works | Your usual card | Bank cards accepted almost everywhere |
| What the agency does | Organizes the stay, interpreter as an option, practical guide to Russia before you leave | Not a visa service: up-to-date information shared with the couples we support | Books her ticket, selection of hotels and places, interpreter as an option |
The United Kingdom, the United States and Canada are not in the Schengen area: bringing her there means a visitor visa of their own, with its own fees and timelines. A third country works well for the first trip. Later on, meeting her family usually means going to see her at home, and bringing her to your country will mean a visa for her: those questions come back then, with a relationship already built.
