What to know before meeting her
Large cities
Novosibirsk is Russia’s third largest city, with 1.6 million inhabitants and the Akademgorodok science centre. Tomsk has been a university city since the 19th century. Barnaul and Abakan are the capitals of Altai and Khakassia.
The time difference
Siberia is four hours ahead of Moscow and five to six hours ahead of Paris or London. A 7 pm call in Paris is midnight or 1 am in Novosibirsk: video calls fit better in the European morning or at lunchtime.
The meeting
Novosibirsk is a four-hour flight from Moscow. The first meeting takes place on video, with an interpreter if needed, then in person: in Siberia, in Moscow or in a third country such as Turkey.
